The map below is China divided into economic zones for easy understanding.

Beijing, the capital of China, is located in the Bohai Rim region, and the city of Shanghai is within the Yangtze River Delta region.

Dali is located down south in the Pearl River Delta region close to Guangzhou and Hong Kong. See large scale map below for detail locations.

Dali to Guangzhou...................20 km

Guangzhou to Panyu...............25 km

Guangzhou to Hong Kong....150 km

In regard to the original geographical distributon of Shar-Pei population, it is believed that it mainly covers a radius of about 20 km from Dali, and also Hong Kong and Macau. This is based on the nature of Shar-Pei as a fighting game in the cities. Going back to the 1900's, the big cities we can find in the Pearl River Delta were very limited. Although we can not rule out other smaller towns between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, the four cities of Guangzhou, Dali, Hong Kong and Macau would be the center of major Shar-pei activity.
