Reference to the sites is selected based on agreement in principle of "preservation of the traditional type", by going back to the place of origin and to try to preserve what was originally there.   It is apparent by comparison that  the traditional type (bone mouth) is clearly different from the modern type (meat mouth) as commonly seen in the west.

The Midland Shar-Pei Club in UK is the forerunner for the promotion of traditional Shar-pei.  Its founding member Mrs. Pat Pearce has been in Dali, China many times over the past decade to research on the traditional Shar-pei at its place of origin.

 

The North American Working Dog Association   (NASA) Far East is a Hong Kong based kennel association which has strong historical connection with China.  A strong promoter of traditional Shar-pei both in China and around the world.  Its president Ms. Lana Tsan is also the founding member of the Midland Shar Pei Club in the UK.

The Sharpei Club Hong Kong is affiliated under the Hong Kong Kennel Club. They proposed the original breed standard to FCI which form a part of the base for the FCI breed standard today.
